Bismillāhir-Rahmānir-Rahīm
South Africa - Capetown (Bayān)
27/06/15 Shaykh Kamaluddin Ahmed db

(not complete notes, missed some parts)

What is our mission this month? ‘La’alakum tattaqūn’ - to acquire taqwa. We should make du’ā to Allāh swt to forgive us as we can only attain taqwa if we have been forgiven. Rasūlullāh ﷺ would make du’ā for salvation from hellfire this month - 'ajirni min-an-nār'

Ya Allah swt, I have tried to stop sinning, I have tried to control my nafs - but my trying hasn’t been enough, but if you target my nafs, it will become ’nafs-mutmainnah'. I ask you for something which brings me your mercy.

Allāh swt sent His special love to us - Allāhu waliyullathīna āmanū - Allāh swt is the friend of the believers…'yukhrijuhum minaz-zulumāti ilan-nūr' - He takes them out of darkness towards the nūr, towards the light.  Ramadān came to make our imān shine.

You should befriend that Allāh swt who is already loving You! Your whole life, you should make these du’ās. There are special people who shaytān cannot lead astray ‘inna ‘ibādi laysa laka 'alayhim sultān’ - make du’ā to make you amongst these people!

There are special verses for those people who sin repeatedly. The judge is very hard on a repeat offender usually. Some of us are like that with Allāh swt - 100s of times we have got angry, we have missed salāh - allathīna asrafū ‘alā anfusihim. - those who have transgressed…Allāh swt says ‘lā taqnatū mir-rahmatillāh’ - no matter how much you have sinned, you haven’t taken yourself out from the range of Allāh swts mercy! This one letter ‘yā’ -this is the greatest mercy. The yā refers to ‘Mine’ - you’re still Mine, My Mercy is still yours. He swt is addressing the repeat offenders here. SubhānAllāh! Allāh swt forgives all sins entirely. In Ramadān there is even more mercy.

Nobody else will ever give you such forgiveness. Nobody will ever treat you like that. Does any human being talk to another like this? What if someone wronged you 100s of times repeatedly…? Do we say don’t worry, I will forgive you entirely. Allāh swt is talking to us like this. Feel every verse from the Qur’ān. Feel happy. Feel happy that Allāh swt has so much mercy upon us. Those in the masjid, we are the spiritually hungry! Quench your spiritual hunger and thirst in this month.

Ghāfiridh-dhanbī wa qābilit-tawbi, shadīdil ‘iqāb…He mentions His punishment at the end. He mentioned His Mercy FIRST!

Ya ayyuhal insān, ma garraka birabbikal karīm -Oh insān, what is deceiving you from your Kind Generous Lord? These verses should melt your heart.

Allathīna āmanū wa lam yalbisū īmānahum bizulmin…the believer who doesn’t stain their imān, doesn’t confuse their imān, doesn’t spoil their imān - Allāh swt said ‘ūlāika lahumul amnu’ - they will be guided by the guidance; they will get peace…they are in security!

Those of us caught in sin, Allāh swt brings us back this month. The biggest practise we do is the fast.

Innamat tawbatu ‘ala-llāhi lillathīna ya’malūnas-sū’a bijahālatin, thumma yatūbūna min qarībin…Allāh swt is bound to forgive that person who does evil in ignorance and repents QUICKLY (SOON) afterwards. We must always say sorry to Allāh swt quickly; as soon as possible. Allāh swts mercy will come to you quickly.

Allāh swt is all knowing and wise. Jahālat  doesn’t only mean they didn’t know it was a sin, but it can mean they knew it was sin, but their nafs was overpowered that they didn’t realise. If you make taubah to Allāh swt ‘min qarīb’ - quickly, then the mercy of Allāh swt will come quickly.

Wallathīna iza fa’alū fāhishatan - those that have done lewd, immodest sins - those who do it so normally…Allāh swt says ‘aw zalamū anfusahum’ - or they have wronged themselves…what does Allāh swt say? zakarullāha fastagfarū lizunūbihim - they remember Allāh swt, then they seek His forgiveness. ‘Wa may-yaghfiru zunúba illalāh’ who can forgive their sins except Allāh swt!!! Just remembering Allāh swt later on, you can gain that forgiveness. Make the dhikr and istighfār - Allāh swt is ever-ready, waiting to forgive us.

What does Allāh swt about the person who sins over and over again and repents over and over again - they are called tawwāb! Allāh swt says about such people that he loves the tawābīn. This is our reality. We are the repeat sinners. Innallāha yuhibut-tawābīna…Allāh swt loves the tawwāb!

May Allāh swt make us from His accepted servants Aameen ya rabbal aa'lameen
